Make Something Monday

Make Something Monday
My submission this week is a scrapbook page I made for an album I am making for someone on my Christmas list. I wanted to make one page with a bunch of pictures from the month of July. There were so many great pics that it was hard to choose, but I managed to come up with something I like.

Welcome November

I am totally loving the In The Neighborhood kit from Funky Playground. I used papers and elements from that kit, as well as the word "november" from the 9 to 5 Chic kit to create my own desktop for the month of November. I was not in the mood to mess with creating the calendar part, so I just made it as a table in Word and pasted it in. Not too shabby for my first attempt. I really love how the photo of my son seems to jump off the screen at me.

I hope to enjoy the month of November as much as I am enjoying glancing at my pretty desktop.

Do you use one of these desktop wallpaper thingys? If so, which one are you using for November?

Halloween's supposed to be spooky, right?

This is as spooky as it gets when you have a preschooler. I so look forward to the days when he wants to wear something ghoulish with fake blood and guts. I really get into that stuff for some reason. I hope he does too when he gets older. However, for this year I will settle for another cute costume.

His first Halloween he was a skunk. We used to call him "stinky" so it was quite fitting and too cute for words.

The following year I made him a lion costume. Oh how I hated brown yarn after making that mane. Again, a very cute kid on Halloween though.

Then came his first time choosing his own costume...and of course it had to be a pirate. He's quite the pirate fan so it was fun and we all got in on the act.

I was happy to play along, even though it meant wearing a skirt in the cold to trick or treat.

My husband enjoyed it too, despite the pout he's flashing me here. Not sure what his problem is, maybe the clip on earring was hurting him. hehe

And of course the bulldog didn't want to wear his pirate shirt, but too bad, and the lil bugger is so lazy that he kept laying down every couple houses when we were trick or treating (as seen here).

That brings us to this year. This Halloween promises to be even more fun than the last. Now he's almost 4 and really getting into the whole idea of trick or treating and spooky stuff. He loves the Toy Story movies and said he wanted to be Woody. However, one day in Target he saw a Buzz Lightyear costume and HAD to have it. We bought it and tried it on at home, but it was to small. So off I went to find one that fit. I ended up at Toys R Us, and they had the deluxe costume that had wings as well. I KNEW this was the one. He LOVES it! So, while it may not be spooky or creepy, it sure is going to be a fun Halloween.

Lil Stinker Layout

Here's a little something I made last night...

This is my dog, Rocky. He seemed quite pleased with himself when he learned how to get onto the sofa, so I had to capture the moment.

I am already looking forward to Thanksgiving

We host Thanksgiving dinner at our house for my family and my in-laws. Things can be hectic this time of year, especially if I look at my calendar and to do lists longer than a second. However, when we sit down to eat dinner on Thanksgiving day, my whole body breathes a sigh of relief and then I scarf down my delicious food. The afternoon is spent cleaning up of course, but my stomach says it is worth all the work. I love Thanksgiving dinner and here are a few things I am looking forward to making and eating...

Scrapbook Saturday

Scrapbook Saturday

This weekend's layout was lifted from a layout I drooled over on Stacey's blog, Havoc And Mayhem. Take a look at the inspiration she provided here. I so loved what she did with her Crafty Crochet layout and I put it to good use on my layout above about our visit to George George Park over Labor Day Weekend.

Thanks for the inspiration Stacey!

Hello Photoshop Elements 6!

Where have you been all my life?!
So, my extremely generous and loving husband gave me PSE6 for my birthday this week. I had mentioned I would love it, but I doubted he would go for it for a birthday present. I am so blessed!
Also, I am totally in LOVE! It's an overwhelming kind of love, because there are so many neat tools and things to figure out, but I have confidence in my clicking ability. Today I figured out how to use the Magic Extraction Tool, which I have always been jealous of since I did not have this capability until now.
Here's a little something I made using the Magic Extraction Tool on my pup, Ruby...

Scrapbook Saturday
Today I am posting the first layout I tinkered with in Photoshop Elements 6. My husband bought me the program for my birthday. I am so excited to learn more about it, seems to have an amazing amount of creativity to offer. Anyway, here's a layout I whipped up about my mini van we brought home back in August of 2007, I still love my van a ton!

The journaling seems tiny and hard to read on here, but full size is fine. It is a Rascal Flats song that I love and think about my son every time I hear it.

Birthday Mania...

My family and friends know I get really excited about my son's birthday each year and plan him a sweet party. Well, this past April I got a chance to throw a birthday party for my husband as well. He was turning 30 and I wanted to make it special. That same month our English Bulldog, Rocky, was turning one. I just could not pass up saving him a cucpcake and making him wear a party hat while we sang happy birthday to him. And of course, I could not resist taking a few pictures and scrapping them. So here it is...my dog's first birthday...

Awe shucks...

I'm not feeling all that creative this week. The only thing I am really motivated to do is clean the house, so I am capitalizing on the mood and getting things done around here.

I did spend a few minutes this afternoon working on some scrapbooking at the computer while my son napped. Here's a page I whipped up...

Created using the Let's "Owl" Go Retro freebie by Inspiration's Creations from the Teacher's Pet project at Funky Playground.

Two more pages, oh my!

As a follow up to last weekend's Scrapbook Saturday post, I am showing off the final two page layout of my Nature Center photos.

It is rare to have four pages dedicated to one activity or outing, at least for me it is. However, all the photos from the Nature Center were so cute and we had so much fun, I could not choose just a few.

Also, all papers and elements used are from the Backyard Explorer kit by Mommy Scraps. Check out her awesome blog!

Summer Memories Contest...CLOSED

August is always a bittersweet month for me. The temps are normally hot (hello, where is that this year when I want to swim?), but I know it also means the end of summer. So, in honor of the fast-approaching end of summer, I am hosting a contest for a Summer Mini Album.

I made this 6x6 album with fun and fresh summery papers and elements. It has 6 pages and each two page layout has at least one tag for journaling to go along with your picture. Everything is done for you, just plop in your photos with some double stick tape and show it off to your family, friends and co-workers (perfect size for your desk).

How to enter:
1. Your first entry is to leave a comment on this post describing your favorite memory from this summer. Whether it was a family vacation or a day at the park, tell me about it and why you cherish that memory.

2. You can gain an additional entry by blogging your favorite picture from this summer and leaving a link to it here in my comments. This must be a picture you have taken this summer.

This contest will run until September 1st and the winner will be chosen at random. Please ensure your entries include a blog or e-mail address I can contact you at to notify the winner.

Only my child would do this...

I could not resist taking this picture and scraping it. He did this several times with the dry erase markers at his easel. Such a quirky kid.

Snow in August?

No, no snow, thank God, although the temps have not been as warm as they should be this month. However, I did scrap some snow pics from earlier this year, check it out...
