August is always a bittersweet month for me. The temps are normally hot (hello, where is that this year when I want to swim?), but I know it also means the end of summer. So, in honor of the fast-approaching end of summer, I am hosting a contest for a Summer Mini Album.
I made this 6x6 album with fun and fresh summery papers and elements. It has 6 pages and each two page layout has at least one tag for journaling to go along with your picture. Everything is done for you, just plop in your photos with some double stick tape and show it off to your family, friends and co-workers (perfect size for your desk).
How to enter:
1. Your first entry is to leave a comment on this post describing your favorite memory from this summer. Whether it was a family vacation or a day at the park, tell me about it and why you cherish that memory.
2. You can gain an additional entry by blogging your favorite picture from this summer and leaving a link to it here in my comments. This must be a picture you have taken this summer.
This contest will run until September 1st and the winner will be chosen at random. Please ensure your entries include a blog or e-mail address I can contact you at to notify the winner.

One of my favorite summer memories is of my older sisters and I climbing across a decomposing wood bridge to get to the wild apple orchard in the field next to our house. The apple orchard had been abandoned for years but still had many yummy apples growing. I loved the sense of adventure along with the treat of sweet/tart apples. A few years later a beaver family chopped down all of the apple trees.
One of my favorite Summer Memories actually happend a few months ago. We've moved from TX to TN to NC. All my children are 6 and under so they haven't seen the ocean.
Well, we tagged along with hubs on a business trip to the SC coast and my children were in AWE.. yes, their eyes were popping out of their head with excitment over the wonder that is the ocean.
We played, we splayed, we built sand castles, we ate at a beachfront resteraunt on the top deck with the salt laced air blowing our faces.
That night we shopped and found a cute little soda pop/candy shoppe... they were in heaven and it made me so happy when I heard my 4 year old say, "Mom, this is the bestest day of my life!"
Look at you, you got me teary eyed over here! :)
We had a great summer, but one os my fave times was the trip to Pixie Woods, old style slides and rides form the 50's! The boys had a blast on the train ride!
My family went to Yellowstone the first week in June, and we saw more wildlife than we've ever seen there. It was the first time my girls (5 & 3) had been, and it was so fun to watch them get excited spotting buffalo or bears!
the look on my daughter's face when we talked into our family reunion as she realized that all 30 people were her family.
That's awesome Andrea!! I'd love to have one for summer but I don't have very many pictures to show off summer activities, but I'll be sure to add it to my Manic Monday post.
Awe, all your memories are so special and fun to hear about!
My favorite summer memory from this summer was July 4th. We bought a small inflatable pool for my two girls. The whole family got in and enjoyed the cool water. It was such a simple day, but definietly one I will remember!
Wow -- this is hard to narrow down! THis summer has been fun. I think my favorite memories are from our vacation to Bermuda. It was our first real vacation and our first time away from our daughter. While I was sad to leave her behind, it was sooo nice to spend time with my husband without distractions. We went snorkeling, visited some of the caves, and ate way too much food. It was AWESOME!
My favorite memory from this summer was having our twins, Daniel and Creighton. Nothing could have been better than that this year! They were born 7 weeks early, but they're doing awesome!

I just had a great day at the zoo with my kids this week. They are finally old enough to recognize the animals and last for longer than 15 minutes. We were a little overdressed. It was in the 50's in Denver when we left the house, but had warmed up significantly by the time we made the 30 minute drive. Oh well. They were sweeties and I even rewarded them with cotton candy after lunch (less messy than ice cream).
My favorite summer memory has to be going to St. Simon's Island for the first time. My dad, who was in the K-9 Unit at the time, had a training week down there, so the whole family went. The dog, Rowie (w pronounced like v), was such an amazing animal and had such drive, yet was the friendliest thing when she wasn't working. She was a Dutch Shepherd.
We went down there and stayed in a nice hotel (paid for by the Sheriff's Department) and Moma, Arty, and I spent the days in the pool while Daddy and Rowie were working and afternoons/evenings walking around, shopping, going to the pier (crabbing is so much fun!), and seeing the sites. There is a lot of history down there and some beautiful homes.
We went every summer after that for a few years, but nothing was like that first trip. It was really amazing... just doing what we pleased, the days seemed so long, and that week was just amazing. I was only about 9 or so that summer, but I remember everything about it... the way it smelled, the fun of crabbing, catching hermit crabs and bringing them home, catching sand dollars (then learning that the white color comes from putting them in bleach!), and those yummy peach candies.
These are so great! And congrats Sarah on the birth of your twins!
My favorite summer memory was when everyone got to meet baby Rush. They called him "It" for awhile. "It's crying Mommmy".
We had a wonderful summer. My husband is a teacher and I am self-employed and work from home. We were able to do so many fun things as a family, but I'd have to say my most memorable was our camping trip with 5 other families. What a blast!! There were 12 kids under 5...but we all survived and even managed to get some sleep!
I'll never forget laying in our tent with my two little munchkins snuggled up on either side of me (while Daddy was off on his own air mattress all by his lonesome) and hearing my 2-year-old little guy say, "Mama, it's night-night outside - the moon told me". Then he proceeded to say he wanted to get out of the tent to go play. By this time it was well past 10pm, so I was desperately trying to think of a way to convince him we just needed to lay there quietly and go to sleep. So I told him that we had to stay in the tent because we didn't want to bother the bears sleeping outside. Wrong answer, Mommy! He instantly became hysterical - not because he was scared, but because he wanted to go out and see the bears. So there we were with him crying and frantically screaming at the top of his lungs, "I WANT TO GO SLEEP WITH BABY BEAR!!!" over and over and over. We all had a good laugh the next morning. :-)
Ah, the memories ...
I know it doesn't sound very unique, but my hubby & I took our 2 kids to Disney World for the 1st time this summer....all of our fist time....and we LOVED it!! Can't wait to go back....would love to win your scrapbook to document our summer!
Im a mother of 20 month old twins, 1 boy 1 girl, and they are different as can be. Theres a little park in my neighborhood, wherei often take my kids to, one sunday morning i slept in, wheni woke up the house was quiet, no husband, no kids... wierd, very weird. my husbands cell phone was onthe counter, his car in the garage, he wasnt in the yard well i figure he went for a walk,so i went outside and looked over to the park and there he was playing soccer with the kids(i might add my son is not yet 2 but is already a david beckham :) it was the cutest thing i had ever seen.
we havnt had a chance to go on vacations, but i liek taking walks in the park and going to the zoo, nd out for ice cream with the husband and kids thats what i like about summer, just tiem as a family
One of my favorite memories this summer was camping with the family. I love sleeping in a tent under the stars, staying up late and visiting with loved ones, eating hot dogs and smores over the fire.

My favorite memory is when we were all able to get to the beach. We hardly ever get out the 4 of us, so it was a lot of fun.
